Meet Angus — a beautiful soul with a gentle heart who is slowly learning that the world can be a kind place. ❤️🐾

As time passes and he continues to settle into rescue life, we’re seeing a wonderful transformation. Angus is becoming more relaxed, calmer, and little by little, more sociable. In his first few months with us, he wouldn’t let anyone come closer than two metres away. Now, he happily allows us to get close enough for photos — a huge milestone for this special boy. ❤️

Angus is a hound mix, although exactly which breeds make up his family tree remains a mystery. Local dogs are often a blend of many different hound breeds. He’s a tall, elegant boy with white fur covered in black spots, similar to an English Pointer. He has the nose of a scent hound, while the markings on his face may have come from a Beagle or Gascon-type hound. Truthfully, even a DNA test might not solve the puzzle! 😄

We don’t know his exact age, but we estimate he’s between 3 and 5 years old. He’s definitely an adult, and that’s a wonderful age for a dog — mature enough to be settled, but with plenty of adventures still ahead.

Angus gets along well with other dogs and currently lives happily alongside several canine companions. Cats, however, are not for him. He remains shy around people, but we’re making steady progress. Considering everything he’s been through, it’s understandable that learning to trust takes time.

For Angus, the ideal home would be one with another friendly dog, preferably a female. Having a confident canine companion would help him adjust more quickly and show him that not all humans are frightening. 🐕💕

What makes Angus so special is that beneath his timid exterior is a loving soul who desperately wants to trust. We’ve seen glimpses of it ourselves. The first time we gently hugged him and kissed his face, he looked completely astonished — as if he couldn’t quite believe that kindness was real. It was both heart-breaking and beautiful.

Sadly, many of the stray dogs who come into our care have never experienced affection from humans. They’ve known shouting, fear, and sometimes cruelty. When they’re finally shown love, it can feel unfamiliar and even scary.

We know that Angus has so much love to give. He has simply been let down too many times. Now, he deserves a fresh start, a family of his own, and the happy ending he’s been waiting for. ✨
