He was once a bouncy playful young boy. He had so much life in his eyes, so much will to live, to run up and down like a loonie. 2,5 years after his eyes are empty. Amares knows that he spends his life in a cage. In the morning when these photos were taken, his “home” will be washed. Then he will sleep and wake up in the afternoon. He will go out of his cage for a while to play and then he will go in his cage to eat and sleep.

Thats the life of all the dogs at the shelter not just Amares now in the summer. They cant go out cause its summer and the ground burns most of the day. We cant risk a dog having a heat stroke or getting its paws burned. In the winter if we have time they can go for a walk during the day or if we have volunteers visiting us. Yes our dogs have a roof over their heads, they have food and our love but thats not a life. Thats not the life that makes Amares eyes or every dogs eyes shine.

Its 2,5 years already and going to 3. Its 40 bloody months!! Its a whole life in a prison cause a cage is a prison.

Amares lives with 3 other dogs of differentages and sizes. Hes friendly and placid. Hes not the dog that will cause a fight or interested in being in one. He doesn’t like cats but hes a hound so we didnt expect him to love them. This gorgeous sweet boy is a segugio/english pointer mix 3+ years old. Hes 25? kgs and tall. Hes got the standard body shape hounds have and their goofy character. Loves people but hes timid and shy when she doesn’t know you. Once he does, they hes a cuddle boy. What else shall we say about him? Hes worth it, hes worth to fight for and we dont stop trying to find him a home. If only we could click our fingers and find a home now, if only.
