We posted the pups before and now its moms turn. Gorgeous Ruby is a 3-4 year old staffy girl. So far she met a cage in her life and having babies almost in every season. She was a puppy machine, she was having babies only to be taken away a couple of months later to be sold.
This gorgeous girl is now in foster care and is learning slowly slowly how to co exist with other dogs and have a life with people who trully love her. Shes free in the yard, she goes where ever she wants to. In the house, in the garden, she can sit on the sofa. Slowly slowly she started to relax and be a proper doggy. Shes not fond of small dogs but her foster mom is working on this. Ruby does live with 4 other dogs now so the socialising is in progress. Also she doesnt like cats but again this is common with many dogs.
We believe a home with another large male dog or a home where she can be on only dog, may be the best choice for her.

A beautiful young labrador boy needs a new home. Bailey was found roaming in the streets at the other side of the island from where we are. A couple we know offered to foster him to save him from euthanasia since the place he went as a stray was a killing pound.
Bails is a young boy around 1-2 years old, a teenager. Hes fine with other dogs and cats if a proper introduction is done. He doesn't like young children cause he basically doesn't know how to behave and he gets scared of loud voices and shouting that kids do. Basically he wants to play, she wants to do things but hes scared and doesn't know how to behave.
He loves long walks and would be perfect in agility. Bailey needs stability and patience as a young dog. Unfortunately he changed 3 different places the last month and this makes him scared. He lost his home, then he went to a pound where he wasn't treated right and then in a foster home. Too many changes in a short time and would make any dog feel insecure.

You have no idea how much we love this lady. Ariel is our special dog, a very sweet and gentle character. If only all the crazy youngsters we have at the shelter, had her character. Our jobs would have been so much easier with cleaning and caring for the dogs. Shes seriously a perfect dog who unfortunately didnt find a home yet.
For those who follow Ariels story, you remember that she went to a foster home after finishing the operations she had to do. She did 4 bless her. 2 at the back left leg, 1 at the front left leg and one at the jaw cause the car that hit her on the left side of her body and broke almost all her left side. Her foster mom had to return to her country without being able to take her with her. She wanted to but couldn't take her just like that and we know it. Now Ariel is back to shelter with us since she had no where to go.
Shes not doing so well as we thought she would. Shes is free roaming at the farm, shes not in a cage cause shes fine with cats. She never hurt any cat or any living creature. Ariel is still shy and timid and unfortunayely that makes her very vulnerable cause all the other dogs bully her. She is a big dog around 25-27 kilos but a 4 kilos dog easily terrifies her. Today at her effort trying to hide from the others, she cut herself at her back. We dont know what to do, where to take her to be alone if possible. We dont want her to get more hurt just cause shes trying to hide herself. 
Would anyone be interested in adopting her? Or foster her in Cyprus? People who visit us and meet her, say shes an angel. No one has ever heard her bark so far. Its like she has no voice. Her adoption fee is also reduced cause we want to help her find a home. We know that people are afraid of the medical cost especially in Uk. Many vets take advantage of the imported dogs and thats what the complaints of many adopters say. Ariel doesnt have though any other medical issues. Shes walking almost normally and she can run. She gets tired more easily but she knows her limits. Shes adult anyway, not a young dog who likes to run up and down like crazy.

No doubt about it, pug/pincher crossbreed. Now that we 've taken Aspa to the shelter and saw her from close, theres no doubt about it.
Her body shape is like a bigger pug. Aspa has the pinchers size by the way, leggy but shes got that bulky chest and slim waist and behind. You know that kinda chubby like its bloaded chest? And she lies down on her knees? Everything around her can be crazy and she sits in the middle and smiles looking at you with a goofy way? Also sits and the edge of her tongue is sticking out of the teeth? Aspa obviously has an underbite due to one parent being a snubnose. When we put her in the mini dogs pen, we watched her to see what she was doing. She went and put her face in front of wooden fencing to see what was on the other side. Then realized that she cant see and stepped back. Then she went next and put her face again if front of the wood but she couldn't see cause exactly she was standing in front of the pieces of wood, not in front of the gap between the wood and have visibility. 
But she was happy when she found out that she could see from the gaps!! Shes a lovely girl bless her and its a shame she was abandoned.

He is a cutie. He is gorgeous little cutie and we hope that he will find a home the soonest. Meet Horatio, one of the small dogs that went to the pound last month. Yeap, dogs like this little boy are abandoned all the time here. We have 5 dogs under 6 kilos and Horatio is 7,5 kilos cause he loves food.
The doggy is a peki/kokoni mix and hes around 1-2 years old the max. You can see from the photos that hes a lovely boy, his eyes tell us about his sweet character. Hes not a barker, not a fassy dog and hes actually calm. Its obvious that he lived in a home cause he knows how to behave. When we give him a treat, he takes it from our hand very gentle. Who ever adopts this little one, will be really very lucky.

We have an itsy bitsy young boy for adoption, our Eolos. 
He must be the smallest in size doggy we have at the shelter bless him. His final size is almost 5 kilos and hes 7 months old.

His owner had posted him trying to rehome him, saying she couldn't look after him. We offered to help cause we knew it wouldn't end well. We 've seen dozen of posts like this and the dogs end up abandoned in the countryside, mountains. The lady said he wasnt available any more, that he found a home which got us puzzled cause no one had commented on the pups post.
As we thought it would happened, the pup was found abandoned, roaming in the streets of another village close to us, not where the owner was living. She had taken it to another village and abandoned it. Unfortunately we cant report her cause we cant prove it. For a case to stand in court, it needs proofs and we dont have them. The pup came to us eventually and called him Eolos from the greek mythology.
After a week we got this little guy, we posted a stray rottie that was found and guess who applied saying she wanted to adopt it. Yeap, Eolos owner. She had space for 45 kgs rottweiler but didnt have space for a 5 kilos pup. Of course we send her where she should have been.

Her name is Lucy, shes one of the dogs we got from the pound recently. Her owner unfortunately died and her family couldnt keep her so they handed her over to the authorities.
Lucy may be looking happy and smiley at the photo but she just started to smile. She had some rough days after she was taken at the pound. She was used to in a home of course, not a cage and she was also looking for her owner. The dog warden told us that she was howling very sad at night and was crying most of the day at the corner in her cage. She broke his heart the way she was crying and brought her to our vet. He told us that it was like she knew her owner had died and was mourning.
Unfortunately we dont have a home either to take her, all we have are cages like the pound. The first couple of days she came, she was crying like she was at the pound. Thank god now we started seeing this precious smile. We may not have homes but we have lots of love to give and that love brought the smile to her face. We do cuddles with her, we play a bit. She knows now that she will be taken care of and we hope she will find a home very soon.
Lucy is a young frenchie/kokoni mix around 12-13 kgs. The frenchie ears, the round shape of her little head, the underbite caused by the snubnose breed and her body shape are so french bulldog type. The only things she got from the kokoni are the colours and most important her character. She doesn't have the stubborn, strong minded character that frenchies usually have. Shes sociable, gets along with other dogs, loves humans, shes easy going. With cats she needs more investigation cause she barks so far but doesn't growl. Shes what we call a ready dog meaning that who ever adopts her, wont need much to wait for her to adjust in her new life. She will easily adjust to a new home and this will also make her smile all the time.

She is smallish for a beagle, shes around 8-10 kilos. It shows in her look that she hates being at the cage at the vet but for now thats where shes staying cause we dont have any space. 18 dogs came to us from the pound in 17 days!! Its mental!
Thalia is the typical beagle. Shes nosey, she wants to know everything. She doesnt like being quiet and if she wants something, she will let you know. If she could talk, she would. We believe that everyone knows how beagles talk.

Hes named Oreo cause hes so sweet bless him. And yes, hes one of the sweetest puppies we 've got at the shelter. Hes such a well behaved boy bless him. Oreo is one of the 5 pups that we took grom the pound 2-3 months ago. They were 4 black-ish pups and one black/white/tan. The tricolour was adopted within the first few days by a family. Then they realised that adopting a pup is a lot of work. Toilet training, lead training, crying cause its feeling lonely. After 2-3 days the pup was returned back to us. Its a shame but instead of putting it in a cage or dumping it somewhere else, returning it was better.
The pup is now 4-4,5 months old and is small size. He has another sister thats available as well but we will do a different post about her. Hes smart, easy to train, good with dogs, cats and humans. The pups were then a few weeks old and couldn't survive but the owner didnt care about this. A very kind couple found them and raised them till the age of 2 months old. At that age we got them as the couple couldnt cope any more with the pups. May, the girl got adopted and flew on the same flight with Bailey. Unfortunately Rolo is still in Cyprus waiting for someone to adopt him.
Our sweet fostered boy, is as his smiles shows, very sweet. Hes loving, kind, friendly and quiet. He may be a pup but yes, hes a quiet pup. Hes gentle and to be honest, all 3 are gentle pups. Usually most hound pups are crazy and a handfull at 5 months old. These ones though are not the hyper pups, they are calm but playful. Bailey is the most gentle of the 3 and now he needs a home, a forever home with people to love him.

This beautiful young girl is growing day by day. She was a skinny pup that was inhaling her food. She was so badly starved that her food was gone in a few seconds. Melissa still eats like no tomorrow but not with the speed she ate before.
Our beautiful girl is 6 months old now. Shes a german shepherd but most probably crossbreed. We know shes looking very shepherd but her ears shows us that shes not full shepherd. Which actually is fine cause shes not so dominant as shepherds usually are. Melissa is very sociable, calm but also playful, adores humans. Shes friendly with other dogs and cats which is amazing. Our Era the swiss shepherd, would torn a cat in pieces if she could catch one. Of course she will be big size, shes already medium size and going bigger day by day.

Kokoni alert and this time this sweet girl is in Uk. Miranta the kokoni is in West Yorkshire, at a lovely home in Pontefract. The sweetest little lady has settled perfectly at her foster home and now needs to find a home.
Miranta is a adorable little kokoni whos 5-6 kilos only, was found abandoned and taken to the pound in a bad shape. When we took her from the pound, we believed she was old. Her situation was pretty bad and we thought it was an old dog. Oldies are always ignored so rescued her. It turned out that was not old, shes actually a young pup around a year old. You can see from the photos that shes adorable, shes a redish kokoni between mini-normal size. Shes fine with other dogs and she lives now with another small female dog. Shes friendly with cats but will chase one if she has the chance cause its fun. If the cat turned out to be fisty and hisses at her she will run away crying. 
Theres no better breed than kokonis, not cause its a greek breed but kokonis are really amazing dogs. Miranta or Mira is no exception and who ever adopts her will be very lucky. Kokonis are intelligent, sociable, cheerful, fearless, loving and sweet dogs. They are perfect dogs.

Lupe is of course house trained and lead trained. Shes currently living in a house with children so shes fine with them. No cats, shes barking at them. She may actually be alright but we dont want to risk it. Shes used to staying alone while the family is working which is a big benefit with todays way of living. We all have to work and we need an easy dog to be our friend.

If her owner was a decent breeder, if she was fed correctly and if she wasn't abandoned like a garbage, this pup would 've been around 10 kilos at least. Shes not though, shes barely 4 kilos.
Meet Maxin, a 4 months old wire cross that was found abandoned in a very bad situation. A very kind lady found her and took her to a vet clinic wanting to help her. She was emaciated, barely walking and due to her very poor health, she got parvo. Thanks to her very good vets, she survived after having also an operation in her tammy to put her intestines in their position. In simple words, she had such a bad diarrhea that her intestines were going out. A big thank you to the lady that wanted to help her and covered her expenses. Now that shes better, we were hoping for a foster home so she wouldn't go in her state to the shelter but we were unlucky, no one said yes in fostering. We took her today from the vet and taken her to the shelter. We wore her a warm coat and out her in the smallish dogs pen.
Its not what we wanted but we cant force people to foster. We cant inflict them a dog. You see how she is, due to her poor immune, her fur has fallen. Its something we expected that it could happen. Lots of times parvo survivors lose their fur and after they get stronger the fur regrows. Shes weak and needs very good food, vitamins and probiotics. Wish us luck cause she will need all the help she can get. If anyone wants to help with donations or fostering, we will be very grateful. We still have this little lady with us. Nina, our sweet pointer/beagle lady is doing really good. Shes more socialised now than before, goes out for walks once a day. She runs and plays with other dogs around the fenced area. She has a good recall when she wants to. Nina as well as some of other dogs, have selective hearing bless them. When she sees we have food, then suddenly she goes in her cage before we do.

Things that made her still be afraid of people, especially if they are holding long sticks and they shout. We really with that we could erase such memories but we cant. We can only try to find them a loving home so they can be happy for the rest of their life.

She is our Nana. One of the dogs we wont be rehoming without knowing that its the perfect home for her. You see shes was left here to us by someone that wanted to get rid of her. Someone who left saying that will return to pick her up in a couple of hours and that couple hours never came a year now. Thats how much that someone loved her dog.
Nana is a special dog. Shes very timid, afraid of loud noises, gunshots. If we were told right, her sister was killed by a gunshot in front of her so Nana is terrified of gunshots. When ever its the hunting season, she goes and hides under the bed waiting for the hunters to leave and the gunshots to stop. Shes the kindest, the most gentle dog we have at the shelter. Nana is always hiding behind doors, behind tables. When we are at the cages cleaning, shes sitting outside waiting for us to finish. When we sit to eat, she goes to her bed to sleep. When its treats time, she comes quietly next to us and touches us with her nose. To remind us that shes there witing for her turn to get a treat. She will never bark, will never ever growl, not even if her life depended on it. When she takes her treat, shes doing it slow and with a lot of caution so she wont touch you with her teeth and harm you. She is an angel and the person that abandoned her to us was an idiot. This way though Nana has the chance to have a new start, a better start that will leave her to happiness. Shes around 4-5 years old and medium size, like a XL kokoni.

An update on this sweet young lady. Clara went up to the shelter after her check up at the vet. No diseases, no problems which is amazing for a stray dog. We will check her again in 3 months as we do with all our dogs when we get them.
We are thrilled about her. Shes sociable with dogs and cats so far which surprised us. Our cats live with dogs and arent bothered when we let a new dog free but Clara walked through them without even looking at them. She didnt mind that she had cats next to her. She fitted straight away in the gang even though shes timid. We understand that cause its a new environment, she didnt know us and shes still learning us but this little lady is a gem.
Clara must be around 2 years old? Shes small to medium size, beagle size if its easier to understand it. Shes 12-14 kilos the max and we thinks shes a pointer/beagle cross. Most probably she has more bloods in her since our hunters breed any hound they have in order to get the perfect hunting dog. She is perfect for us, she is lovely and trust us she would be perfect for an active family. We dont know how she is with very young children cause we didnt have visits from families at the shelter. This little handsome guy is looking for a home. His name is Budha and hes obviously a french bulldog and unfortunately needs a new home.

One of the sweetest and calmest pups we have at the shelter and shes a spaniel cross obviously. Vasa is a pup we got from the pound a couple of months now. She was so scared bless her.
As many other hound pups, this little cutie was abandoned by her owner. We knew she wouldn't survive at the pound so we said ok when the warden took her to our vet. After a few dewormings cause she was full of worms, she gained weight and became a beautiful liitle lady. We believe shes crossed with a beagle cause shes characteristics from both breeds. Shes got the spaniel colour and sweet goofy character but also the mischief and body shape of the beagle. One she puts her nose down, she forgets about the existence of the other world. Then she stops and becames the wiggliest puppy whos thrilled to see you. Shes already lead trained and we have to admit that shes very easy to walk. Doesnt pull and she waits for you. She will give younlots of kisses and loves cuddles.

Walking time for this girl but with a different escort. Usually its us doing the walks but since we have a volunteer now that helps us with walks, its best for the dogs to learn to be with more people.

Due to being timid, she was trying to avoid the walks but we need to walk as many dogs as we can. They learn to walk on lead, they get socialised more. They are more reasy this way for their new home and we really wish she would find a home. Luccia is so lovely, such a sweet character that its a shame to stay in a cage. Shes a beagle-spaniel mix but we believe that shes a king charles spaniel, not a springer or a cocker. She has so many characteristics of the king charles that made us believe that one of her parents is one.
If this sweet girl went to a home, she would blossom. Cause of her gentle character, shes scared in the shelter. Shes so stressed that hides most of the day in her house. We send a tiny lady to a foster home in Holland along with 4 other doggies who found their forever homes. Little Annie and the rest flew a few days ago, on Monday. Shes now being fostered in a lovely home with 6 more small doggies, children and other animals.
Annie who after the childrens voting is called Andrea, is a kokoni/chihuahua mix? Shes a kokoni with something smallish like kokonis cause Andrea is 5 kilos only. We got a little guy a few days ago. A sweet and timid boy that was handed by his owner due to a weird story. Ruben is a 2 year chikoni, hes small size. Now hes skinny but when full size he will be around 6-7 kilos, the normal kokoni size.
Ruben is the typical young terrier. Hes happy, hes playful, hes fine with dogs and hesitates with cats. Right now hes timid cause the shelter is too crowded for him. He needs though to co-exist with other doggies and hes coping just fine with it. He loves humans but he hesitating when we hold him. Its like he doesn't know what cuddles are.
We don't know if he will get adopted easily. We hope he will and hes a beautiful little doggy. Unfortunately people tend to adopt more fluffy dogs even though they complain later for the hair. The best we could with this boy. He wouldnt stay still, he was excited and stressed the same time. Hopefully he will get used to going for walks and he will feel more comfortable.
Thanasis is the young pup we got recently. Hes a gorgeous german pointer boy medium to large size. He has some growing to do yet but he wont be the 30 kilos pointers that live in other countries. Our pointers have "shrunk" through out the years and we have 20-25 kilos pointers. We even have 15-20 kilos pointers, the pocket ones. Young Thanasis is around 8-9 months old. Hes sociable and hes currently with 3 other dogs in his pen. He loves playing, running around. Not good with cats but we suspected it from the first day. He does have a prey drive, we wont lie about it. He would be in heaven if hes adopted in a home close to the country side or in nature. He will be in heaven.

We have a lucky but same time unlucky boy. Jacks flew to Uk to a new home. He was stressed with all the process of course, it wasnt easy flying. His new parents loved him from the time they went to pick him up from the airport. At home he was ensure as all the dogs who go to a new home. Then he relaxed and stretched those long legs of his to enjoy his new home. It was love at first sight with everyone except the family dog. Shes afraid of our big goofball cause hes larger than her.
Just when we believed that everything was going amazing for Jacks, this happened and we have to move him the soonest. The family as much as they loved him, they also love their dog and have to respect her. She was a stray as well and unfortunately she has some fears from being bullied by larger dogs before adopted. Even though the family tried, things dont go well and we have to find a new home for this big boy. Hes up for adoption again.
Its a shame really cause hes a loving and caring boy. He just asks for love and attention, a friend to play with. Hes already ok with walking on lead, he gets excited with all the new things he sees and wants to check everything. His only issue is his size. He is greyhound size with the dane character so a tall goofy boy thats jumping up and down from happines all day.
