We got a little guy a few days ago. A sweet and timid boy that was handed by his owner due to a weird story. Ruben is a 2 year chikoni, hes small size. Now hes skinny but when full size he will be around 6-7 kilos, the normal kokoni size.
Ruben is the typical young terrier. Hes happy, hes playful, hes fine with dogs and hesitates with cats. Right now hes timid cause the shelter is too crowded for him. He needs though to co-exist with other doggies and hes coping just fine with it. He loves humans but he hesitating when we hold him. Its like he doesn't know what cuddles are.
We don't know if he will get adopted easily. We hope he will and hes a beautiful little doggy. Unfortunately people tend to adopt more fluffy dogs even though they complain later for the hair. The best we could with this boy. He wouldnt stay still, he was excited and stressed the same time. Hopefully he will get used to going for walks and he will feel more comfortable.
Thanasis is the young pup we got recently. Hes a gorgeous german pointer boy medium to large size. He has some growing to do yet but he wont be the 30 kilos pointers that live in other countries. Our pointers have "shrunk" through out the years and we have 20-25 kilos pointers. We even have 15-20 kilos pointers, the pocket ones. Young Thanasis is around 8-9 months old. Hes sociable and hes currently with 3 other dogs in his pen. He loves playing, running around. Not good with cats but we suspected it from the first day. He does have a prey drive, we wont lie about it. He would be in heaven if hes adopted in a home close to the country side or in nature. He will be in heaven.

We have a lucky but same time unlucky boy. Jacks flew to Uk to a new home. He was stressed with all the process of course, it wasnt easy flying. His new parents loved him from the time they went to pick him up from the airport. At home he was ensure as all the dogs who go to a new home. Then he relaxed and stretched those long legs of his to enjoy his new home. It was love at first sight with everyone except the family dog. Shes afraid of our big goofball cause hes larger than her. 
Just when we believed that everything was going amazing for Jacks, this happened and we have to move him the soonest. The family as much as they loved him, they also love their dog and have to respect her. She was a stray as well and unfortunately she has some fears from being bullied by larger dogs before adopted. Even though the family tried, things dont go well and we have to find a new home for this big boy. Hes up for adoption again.
Its a shame really cause hes a loving and caring boy. He just asks for love and attention, a friend to play with. Hes already ok with walking on lead, he gets excited with all the new things he sees and wants to check everything. His only issue is his size. He is greyhound size with the dane character so a tall goofy boy thats jumping up and down from happines all day.

We still have this beautiful young boy at the shelter. Zanetti is waiting patiently for more than half a year ago, ever since we found him abandoned outside our shelter early summer last year. He was around 7-8 months when we found him and now hes over a year old. Its such a shame cause hes spending his childhood in a cage instead of a home.
The little cutie is a beagle kokoni mix? The beagle is obvious but hes crossed with a long haired breed cause hes got longer fur. We believe its kokoni cause of his color, his looks and character. He may be the smartest and most independent dog we have at the shelter. Undoubtedly hes full of mischief but thats what pups do, be cheeky. He escaped several times from the cages area to go check what the other dogs are doing and then he returns back. He didnt attack any of the cats but he did chase a couple cause he had fun. Hes more into knowing everything and when he does then its fine, hes quiet. Hes a dog for hiking, for going long walks and if he has a good trainer, he will be amazing for agility.
Our sweet boy adores humans and especially children like him. When we have families visiting us he loves playing with kids and hes so gentle with them. He will love to have partners in crime and he will be in heaven if he was adopted in an active family. Hes a smart doggy, a happy boy and staying in a cage for long, breaks the dogs character. A sweet update for Rosalie, one of our oldest dogs. Not older in age, shes only 2,5 years old but shes one of the doggies we have the longest in our care. We got her when she was 3 months old back in 2022.
The sweet pointer girl is living in foster care the last several months. Thank god she found a lovely lady who took her home and started socialising Rosalie. It took time but the results are amazing. Rosalie from a terrified pup that was hiding in a crate all the time is now a young dog that goes for walks at the beach, shes swimming, shes playing with the snow. If you dont know her, you would never believe how she was in the past. We know that she would never be a fearless dog like other dogs but shes done a huge improvement.
Rosalie is a pocket size pointer. Shes around 15? kilos, a medium size hound. Shes fine with dogs, timid with humans she doesnt know. Knows how to go on walks and shes perfect on lead. Has a recall with her foster mom so when she knowss her forever family she will be fine in time. Toilet trained of course and shes loves the sofa and watching tv. Shes not used to living with children and kids would scare her due to their loud voices while playing and noices. A quiet home would be the best for her.

The pup, cause he is a pup, is a sweet boy that wants to have friends to play. As all dogs he hates being alone and prefers to have company. He doesnt understand why his owner needs to go to work and he possible wants to go with him. Eros would be better if he finds a home where he will have company all the time, furry or human. Hunting season is over and all unwanted dogs are dumped. This is what is happening in Cyprus years and years now. So far none of the governments have done something to reduce the strays or punish somone who abandoned a dog. Its really embarrassing to live in a country that doesnt care about animals but unfortunately we dont have a choice.
The dog we post is one of the hundreds that were abandoned this season. Shes a pointer mix pup around 6-7 months old and shes lucky that she managed to go to a house and find help. Many strays dont manage and the mountains are full with corpses of dead dogs. As you can see from the photos, shes emaciated, really skinny and she wouldn't survive much longer in the wild if she didnt find the house.

Its safe to say that she hates us. We dropped Sophie to the vet to get spayed and she was looking at us like she wanted to kill us.

She was adopted but due to a very busy job, her owner handed her back to us. To be honest, we were kinda pestering him about her cause we know him and he also wants her to have the best life possible. So now we have mamma Era at the shelter whos close to 3 years old and Sophie, her daughter whos around a year old. Both are in need of forever homes and hopefully both will be adopted in the next couple for months.

She is happy, she is smiling and that smile makes us so happy. Mia has fully recovered from her amputation and shes doing amazing at her foster home. We are so thankful to them for helping her recover cause if she went to the shelter, it would be a slow recovery and she would be stressed.

Shes protective of her foster parents when she spots other dogs in distance but thats understandable. Mia loves her humans as any other dog.

We knew that she would be perfect in a home. We could tell that she lived in a home. Melina, the gorgeous young dog that came back to us a few months ago, has gone to a foster home. Someone up there heard our prayers and she found a foster home.
Now shes has her own warm bed. People to look after and go for walks 3 times a day and yes, shes amazing on lead. As all dogs she got excited the first days and was pulling a bit. She wanted to explore her new world. But now shes amazing, a perfect dog on her walks. She easily learns new things. Already toilet trained. Good recall and obeys commands. Shes amazing with humans and children. Also is fine with other dogs, even cats. That means if they dont run cause she will run after. The family that will adopt her will be a very lucky family.
Melina is 4 years old and shes just over 20 kilos so not the biggest dog. Shes big but not gsd large. She was adopted when she was 6 months old and found as a stray a few months ago. Thank god she was still chipped on our name and this saved her. We were notified and went and picked her up. She was struggling in a cage cause she was living in a house for 3,5 years. You can see how he was at the last photo we post.Orlando is a smallish doggy, he must be around 7-8 kilos the very max. Hes sweet, loving, sociable, amazing with humans and kinda good with cats. Hes not pestering them, they dont annoy him. We can tell by his behaviour that he lived in a house. Even though hes got white hair on his chin, he isnt an oldie even. We believe he is 1-3 years old the oldest. Hes gentle and knows how to behave in a house which shows how mature he is. Hes not a barker, hes lead trained and almost toilet trained.
If someone would give this boy a chance, he would fit immediately in a home. Its the same with most of the dogs to be honest. They just need someone to believe in them and say yes to adopting them. Christmas is around the corner and Archie is doing very good. Thanks to a very kind a loving family, Archie went to a foster home in Cyprus till we can regulate this pills about epilepsy.
The gorgeous puppy whos 8-9 months old now, is growing up and gaining weight all the time so he needs to be weight and have blood tests every month till hes fully grown. When we posted the video of him at the shelter, we had many people asking us to send him abroad. We even got complains why we didnt send him to another continent even though hes epileptic. Archie gets easily stressed when put in a cage and that can cause him a seizure. Plus we are on an island, the only way to get out of here, is fly. How would Archie cope with being 6 hours in a crate being loaded and unloaded from a plane with all that strong noise and unknown people around him? How would he cope being in a crate for 2 days without getting his medication? You see some things are not as easy as they show they are.
Archie needs a home in Cyprus. Since he cant fly, he will need to find a loving home locally and trust us he deserves it. Hes a very sweet and loving pup. Hes lead trained, toilet trained, hes very very smart and food driven so he can be easily trained. He loves to play with his ball bless him. Archie is a normal pup and his epilepsy doesn't stop him. We took Gaston to the shelter. After 4 weeks at the vet clinic till his wound heal, we picked up this gorgeous boy from the vet. Since no one unfortunately offered to foster him locally, we didnt have many choices so hes gone to a shelter cage.
Gaston was named after his breed. Hes a blue de gascoigne mix and since we run out of names, we came up with Gaston. The gorgeous boy is the pup that was found abandoned with his tail totally cut. We posted a video of him around 2 weeks ago? after he was already 2 weeks at the vet clinic. We were trying to find him a foster home cause it was too risky bringing him to the shelter with opened wound. No one offered and we ended up paying the vet extra to keep him there. The wound on his tail took almost 4 weeks to heal.
We know he needs to gain on weight. He actually gained weight but not as much as we wanted him to. Hes a pup so hes still growing up, we have to be a bit patient till hes fully grown. Hopefully he will be adopted soon so he will go to a home and there gained lots of weight. 
He deserves so much to find a home, hes sweet, loving, cuddly and so calm. Gaston has that gentle gascoigne character and he will be an amazing addition to a calm family.

Hes a happy boy, a calm spaniel to be honest. Hes fine with other dogs but not cats. He doesn't have a prey drive which is the reason why hes handed to us.

Before you start bombarding us with messages, please keep in mind that we are in Cyprus, Europe. We can not send her abroad due to her breathing issues. Rehoming will need to be in Cyprus even though we would prefer to send her abroad. Our summer is the worst for snubnose dogs.

She has grown up and gained some weight. Well not so much grown but those 2 kilos she got, helped her a lot. Chloe is our mini Mallis, a mallinois crossed with something smallish. Shes around 5-6 months old and shes a beautiful girl.
When we got her, she was a skinny little girl that couldn't stand much, she was that weak! She was eating like no tomorrow. Slowly she realised that food was always available and she calmed down. Now shes eating when shes hungry, she plays with the other dogs. Shes much more calm. The only thing that makes her go wild is cats. She hates them but we understand it, mallis usually arent friends with cats.
Chloe loves humans and her size makes very easy going. If you love mallis but cant manage a large mallis, then little Chloe is the best. Shes a very smart girl and if someone devotes her some time, she will be brilliant. We would be grateful if someone can foster her or adopt her. Its winter and its freezing now at the shelter. As much as we try to keep the dogs warm, its cold. If anyone can help, please message us.

Someone is settling down and it shows. Sotiris aka Soto the mini, is the little pincher that went to a foster home in Newcastle. Hes getting more confident and the tiny scared face is more happy, more relaxed.

They are around a year old which means still young pups who slowly gain confidence and courage. Aristo, the other brother who looks almost identical to Soto, is the more confident of the two. Sotiris needs to know you, to trust you in order to show you his cuddly self. Once he trusts you, then hes the best lap dog.
Our little guy is very sociable with dogs and loves to have doggy friends to play with. He is fine of course with dogs and also cats. Hes actually barks at them cause hes scared of them. Of course he likes walks but thats also when hes confident. He is smart and easy to be trained if you have some pieces of sausages.

We have a new cutie for adoption. His name is Bruno and hes obviously a pekingese. The sweet boy is around 2 years old and of course hes small size. His family left the country and left him with friends since they couldn't take him with them. Hes sociable, loving, caring, proud, fearless and stubborn. Pekis are called little lions and trust us they are. People who know pekis, love them for their character.

She was found roaming heavily pregnant and taken to the pound. We picked her up back in March 23 with her newborns and ever since Nina (the mom) and her daughter Mini is with us. Nina must be between 5 to 7 max years old? Which makes it 5-7 years in a cage. And for Mini is almost 1,5 years since she was for a few months fostered in a home. The happy puppy she was has turned into a sad young dog that stopped wanting to cuddle us the minute she sees us.

Rolo has maybe the most beautiful eyes in a pup we 've seen so far. Its what makes you look at him and say wow when you meet him. And then the next seconds you see him running towards you wanting to play and do cuddles.
The gorgeous boy is one of 3 pups we got recently for an elder couple. They found the pups abandoned, bottle fed them, raised them but then they couldn't look after them. We took them and we will try to find them homes the soonest. Rolo is the biggest in size from the 3 pups. Hes around 7-8 kilos? We cant tell exactly cause we havent weighted them recently. He wont be large size cause hes now almost 4 months old. This means he will be around 15 kilos, a medium size doggy.
The pups are hound crosses, letchee as they are called locally and dont get large size. Rolo is a loving, cuddly, playful, cheeky and active pup. Hes smart and hes proven it already.
Hopefully he will find a home the soonest cause they deserve it. It would be a shame to get stuck at the shelter and dont get adopted. If anyone is interested in thia cutie, please message us. Shes back. After another week at the vet for her cough, Hilda is back at the shelter. We brought her today since the last two days we were busy with the flight. We brought her and since she was a week in a small cage, we felt sorry for her and had the bright idea to let her free to run.

The moment she realized she was free, she started running like a lunatic. Where ever she could see a bird, or a cat, she was after them. We tried catching her but boy was she fast!!! On one side we were running horrified trying to catch her before she catches a cat and the other side, we were laughing thinking who would imagined that the quiet happy puppy was a manic hunter!!! Once we managed to catch her, she turned again into the cuddle monster that will lick you death.

This gorgeous girl went for her booked appointment yesterday. Yoko is a young hound girl around a year old. She was found next to a busy highway road with another pup. They were almost run over. Someone who didnt want them, dumped them at the highway and was a miracle how they survived.
As obvious, Yoko is a pointer crossbreed but we don't know what other breeds shes got. When you dont know the parents, its not easy to tell what the ancestors are. We know shes got a lovely character and loves everyone. Shes a happy puppy that loves running around like a loonie. We wish we could offer her more than a cage but thats what we have.
Yoko is a lovely character, sweet and cuddly. Shes fine with other dogs, never ever growled and even thought of harming anyone. Shes a pocket pointer, a smallish doggy that needs a family, people to love. Surely she will pay you back double and triple the love and affection. Just give her the chance to prove it. Yeap, hes weird looking but cute weird looking. You can easily say that hes got a very unique look. Dimitri is at the shelter, he definitely hates the cage and he lets us know about it.
This sweet puppy who must be aroun 6 to 8 months old the most, was picked up from the vet and taken to the shelter. He met lots of our doggies and we put him with other smallish dogs of course. Hes sociable, plays with them without any sight of aggressiveness. Hes a total sweetie.
We still cant tell what hes crossed with you can see tourself that his markings are very strange. Its like hes grey with blonde highlights. His ears are something else, its like deers ears. Hes got short legs and chunky body. We estimate him around 6-7 kilos, hes actually small.

Remember her? We posted Athena back in the first days of September. She was a tiny terrified young pup who was found abandoned and was taken to the pound. Now shes a happy gorgeous happy little girl who plays with cats, they are the same size.
Athena is a minpin crossed with a kokoni, hense the look and the colour. Shes shorthaired like the minpin but thats better for her cause that means her hair will be smaller and not so visible when she sheds. It will save you from lots of cleaning. Athena is not just adorable, shes well behaved, toilet trained, amazing with animals and humans. Loves everyone and wants lots of cuddles. Of course she likes chicken as well.
The little lady will need to find her own home and soon. She already has a foster home and now we need to find her a forever one. She can be adopted in Cyprus, Uk, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, where ever she finds a loving home with people to love her. As long as she finds a good home, we dont mind the country.

Gorgeous Yona has settled in her foster home in Netherlands. Shes loves relaxing, going for walks and she adjusted faster than we expected.
Yona needs though to find a home since she reacted to the familys child. Even though she grew up with children, all the changes made her warry and scared. Going to a shelter, living in a noisy shelter, the scaring flight, it was too much for her. Unfortunately she prefers to be relaxed and peaceful which we cant blame her by the way. The family has a young child that will play, make fuss and generally be a child so Yona needs to find a home without young children.
Out sweetheart is 2,5 years old and shes got a short and long body. You can see how she is in the photos we post. Shes not a large size dog, shes between small and medium. Shes like a basset cross. If you 're interested in adopting her, please message us. Trust us you will love this little lady.

A cyprus special, this is what this young lady is. Mara is a crossbreed pup found in a parking place. 2 pups were found actually but Yoko will be posted in another post.
This gorgeous sweet girl, is smallish and we believe shes a hound crossbreed. We cant tell what shes crossed with but shes certainly a beautiful girl. The combination of breeds she has, have made her very sweet and loving. Shes kinda like beagle size but doesn't have the body shape of the beagle. Her legs are like the legs basset crosses have. Shes got long nose, golden eyes. Shes a weird mix but shes unique. Adorable and cute. Mara is lead trained, almost toiled trained. Shes not a hyper dog, shes the usual playful young pup character and we hope she will find a home the soonest.

Winstons favourite spot, next to the wire watching nature. He can sit there for ours just watching outside, being so sad. So disappointed for being locked and not able to run free. Winston or Winny is our english pointer boy. Hes with us since last christmas. We saw him at the pound barely managing to stand and breathe. Thank god we did cause he had very bad pneumonia and he would die. He spend almost 3 weeks in the vet clinic on the iv with strong antibiotics back them. In 2 months it will be almost a year we have him.
Now Winston is doing well, hes eating all his food, goes out on play time and runs like a loonie up and down. Only thing that excites him is to see a cat outside or a bird. Then he goes mental and starts barking cause he wants to go out and chase.
Our english pointer boy whos clearly an adult, loves sniffing and exploring nature like a genuine hound. He hates youngsters and when they jump on him but bless him hes very polite and gentle and never growledto anyone so far. Winny hates cats and attacks trying to kill. We know it and thats why hes in a cage and not free roaming in the place. He hates cats but loves humans and dogs so his new owner will need to keep an eye on this.
